Since March 2025, we have built a team of campaigners with lived experience of living on a low income; who want to use their experience to make positive change. Over the past five months, we have been working together to build their confidence and campaign skills.
Our team has hit the ground running – here’s a snapshot of what our campaigners have been up to:
- Campaigners have attended 5 monthly meetings to gain a deeper understanding of the factors driving poverty in Foyle, increase their knowledge of organising whilst building their skills and selecting an issue to campaign around
- Our team has met with Derry City and Strabane District Council Officers to respond to the Council’s Consultation on the Pathways Out of Poverty: Anti-Poverty Action Plan
- Representatives from the Campaign Team attended Trussell’s Lobby Day in Westminster to lobby Colum Eastwood MP to support an Essentials Guarantee
- Campaigner Kevin Jones spoke at Gasyard Féile’s Panel Discussion on The Executive’s Anti-Poverty Strategy
- Campaigner Jenni Lindsay spoke to over 150 attendees from across civil society at the “Rising Together Against Poverty” Conference
And the team is only getting started!
